Types of Cyber Impersonation
Believe it or not, there is more than one type of cyber impersonation.
Here are a few examples of the different ways bullying through impersonation can occur:
· Pretending to be someone else and sending or posting material to get that person in trouble or damage their reputation or friendships
· When someone creates a fake profile in your name in order to harass, intimidate, threaten or defraud another person.
· Abuser uses victim’s name to gain the confidence of their friends in order to learn private things about them in order to achieve whatever it is that the bully wants to.
· Creating a fake account on a matrimony site as someone they are not to get people to think they are the person you’re looking for and then they get close to you and slowly you share all your personal information with them and they use it against you.
· Someone can fake that they are an old friend of yours and get close to you and then they will use that fake relationship with you to get really close up to the situation that you’ve shared even your personal bank details with them.
· People will fake as others to get close to you and then they might fake an illness, family problems, ‘depression’ phase or something similar and get your sympathy so you give them money and other forms of help and services for free.
· Some people will have everything planned out and target one person! If it was you, they would they meet you online according to their plan and allure you towards them and suddenly you will be in love with them and they will use your delicate heart for many reasons like to get money from you and to get you to give them expensive goods and even your bank account details.
· An individual or a group will impersonate to be someone working for a professionally run company, like a bank or Google or computer programme and they will call you and tell you there is something wrong with your account or computer and that they need some of your personal information to solve it and without realising that it is for a negative cause, you would have given away your personal details.
In those examples above, all those times people give their personal details away, the bully can use it for many things. A few of them are listed below:
· Getting into your bank account and withdrawing money – with you realising and without
· Getting your sympathy so you give them money, expensive gifts and other things for free
· To follow you and track your movements if they want to threaten you

· Get into your email account to send people rude emails or embarrassing emails about yourself.

And remember, once your personal details are out there, they really are out there and you can never ever get all of them back.
